The last issue calls for some
reflection, yeah?
This issue concludes the second year of The Grotto.
It has been amazing, though hectic. We went through
a major design change with our cover, ditching the “big
yellow box” and coming up with a photo-heavy cover
with name plate, courtesy of Adam Roberts and Randy
Rowles. Now the covers are less heavy and more eye-catching.
We are overhauling the Web site, which will be up in
the next week or so — a.k.a. when we get it done,
aiming for early May. The new site will be more traditional
and focus less on the forums, though they will still
be there. Last summer we printed three issues, but this
summer we’ve decided to experiment with the new
site and have online only summer editions. Let us know
how you like the new site!
We had an overhaul of our office due to hurricane damage
that they finally fixed last month. We had the usual
changes in staff, though I am happy to say I still haven't
had to fire anyone. I think this is an accomplishment.
We had two staffers get engaged to each other. Congrats
again, Kelly and Randy!
This May, Adam Roberts, August Brown, Jen Wilson and
Jamie Ousley are graduating from their various programs.
Justin Thompson will be graduating after the summer.
Congratulations on all your hard work!
We are now officially recognized by the Florida Magazine
Association. We are going to be competing against other
magazines throughout the state for various awards this
summer. We will know the results of these competitions
in August, but I will keep you posted. I am hoping for
the best!
